Indy

Indy Ref #1 rallying cry

So judgement day is almost upon us,

It’s been a real David vs. Goliath story for me with a genuinely grass roots movement for progressive change taking on the full might of the British establishment and media, as well as all the other international figures who have weighed in and interfered in an attempt to frighten the Scottish electorate.

We’ve heard stories of businesses threatening to leave or raise their prices, only for them to be completely discredited within hours of the story breaking. We’ve heard rumours of businesses moving their headquarters when they are already based down South.

We’ve been subjected to false promises of extra powers if we vote No. To make these promises so late in the day shows complete contempt for the Scottish people, especially given the fact some of them will have already posted their vote. It’s also a promise they can’t feasibly make, as highlighted by the MP’s who have come out and stated they would vote against any such proposals.

We’ve had the predictable late leaked document about planned NHS cuts, with no mention of the protests down South about their plans to hand control of our health service to corporations who care only for profit and nothing for people.

We’ve had lies about our resources. They kept the McCrone report from us in the 70’s due to the fact that it was very clear that we could more than look after ourselves in an Economic sense, and they’ve continued these lies throughout this campaign.

We’ve had the publicly owned BBC show nothing but complete bias during the course of the campaign and act as nothing more than a vehicle of propaganda for Better Together, despite having a clear obligation to provide balanced coverage. They’ve used our licence fees to pay for this.

Despite all this, the Yes movement has not only remained strong, but has continued to grow and grow to the point where the British establishment is at this very point quaking in its boots. No doubt other nations will also be worried at the fact we could spark progressive movements for change all over the globe.

For me the choice is very much one of Hope over Fear.

I want to live in a Scotland where…..

• We get a government which reflects our voting choices

• We have a prosperous economy based on the vast resources we have available to us

• Society is built on the basis of social need and not corporate greed

• Nuclear weapons do not exist

• We don’t support Terrorist nations

• We support oppressed people rather than pay for the bullets to kill them

• We only send our soldiers into War when it is genuinely to protect the country rather than for economic gain

• We do not hand control of our health service to private corporations

• We don’t put upon the most vulnerable members of society and push them to the brink rather than help them

• We prefer to spend money on books rather than MP’s expenses

• Food banks do not exist

This Scotland that I dream of is possible, and I feel blessed that I get to cast a vote which could potentially help realise that dream.

Tomorrow we have the chance to make history, but more importantly we have the chance to lay the foundations for a prosperous future as an independent nation.

Another Scotland is possible, and all we have to do is put a tick in a box.

Stay Strong, Stay Confident, #voteYES
